Detailed Itinerary
Day 01: Delhi – Agra
Meet INDIA Tailor Made Executive and transfer to New Delhi Railway Station to board Express Train to Agra. On arrival proceed for visit to Taj Mahal, the stunning architectural beauty is beyond any adequate description. The Taj rises on a high red sandstone base topped by a huge white marble terrace on which rests the famous dome flanked by four tapering minarets. Within the dome lies the jewel-inlaid cenotaph of the queen. Standing in the centre of a luxurious Persian garden, it is an architectural jewel of its time, with its unparalleled glory and exquisiteness surpassing beyond all human imaginations. Followed by the visit to Agra Fort; the imposing structure on the banks of the river Yamuna is full of priceless examples of craftsmanship in the Mughal period. It blends the Hindu and central Asian architectural styles very beautifully. Built by Emperor Akbar, the maze of courtyards, mosques and private chambers of the fort, echo the story of the Mughal Empire. Then after the visit, the white marble Tomb of Itimad Ud Daulah, commissioned by the wife of Jahangir in 1622 as the tomb for her father. Described as 'jewel box', or the 'Baby Taj', it is regarded by many as a draft of the Taj Mahal, is the first building to be coated in white marble inlaid with very detailed pietra dura inlay. Day 02: Fatehpur Sikri - Delhi
Enjoy an excursion to Fatehpur Sikri Sikri an outstanding example of Mughal architecture and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The perfectly preserved red sandstone buildings consist of palaces, courtyards, a life-size chess board, tombs and mosques. Visit the Diwan-e-Khas with its remarkable central pillar. Also unmissable is Panch Mahal, the five-storied structure used as the viewing station for the harem. Late afternoon returns to Agra and board train to Delhi. Tour finish with arrival at Delhi. (B)
