Detailed Itinerary
Day 01: Arrive Delhi
Arrive at Delhi International Airport. Please clear immigration and visa formalities, collect your baggage and proceed to the arrival lounge through the green channel if you do not have goods to be declared to customs. INDIA Tailor Made Executive will page you by your name. Thereafter you will be assisted with a transfer to the hotel for check-in. Stay overnight in Delhi. (No Meal)
Day 02: Delhi
Delhi, the capital of India, symbolises the soul of the country. Mesmerise yourself in the splendid sightseeing tour of New and Old Delhi, Visit Jama Masjid; the largest mosque in India built in red sandstone with extensive use of marble, with relics of the Prophet and Holy Quran enshrined here, Visit Chandni Chowk, now a chaotically bustling area, typical of real India, containing a mix of stalls, shops, food outlets and temples. Between the mosque and Chandni Chowk is a narrow shop-lined street along which you will be transported by cycle rickshaws on your most photogenic journey of the tour. Visit Qutub Minar; built at a height of 72meters, and being one of the most important landmarks of Delhi, with calligraphically decorated interiors, and also inscriptions of verses of the Holy Quran, visit the Gandhi Memorial; the resting place of the father of the nation, India gate; a memorial tribute with names inscribed of all the soldiers martyred during the Afghan War. Stay overnight in Delhi. (B)
Day 03: Delhi – Jaipur (Driving Time: Approx. 5 hours)
Morning enjoys breakfast at a leisurely pace. Later check out and travel to Jaipur, the first planned city of India, is a treasure-trove of culture, art and history, famous for its colour, lifestyle and Rajasthani cuisine. It is a city exuding royal heritage and extravagant richness. On your arrival to Jaipur, check-into the hotel. Rest of the evening explore world-famous jewellery bazaar which offers a variety that ranges from chunky tribal Jewellery to enameled gold to modern diamond jewellery. In Rajasthan, men and women can be seen sporting necklaces, armlets, anklets, earrings and rings. Silver is more commonly worn by the rural women and is certainly more affordable for a shopper. Jaipur is well known for its gold and silver enameling. Colourful bangles and set with semiprecious stones make an inexpensive buy. Also explore the colourful local bazaars, well known for its embroidered leather shoes, blue pottery, tie and dye scarves and other exotic wares, Stay for two nights in Jaipur. (B)
Day 04: Jaipur
Jaipur is a royal city and its surroundings are rather like an endless museum. The delightfully laid out gardens and parks, attractive monuments and marvelous heritage hotels, which were once the residence of maharajas are worthy of admiration. After breakfast, proceed for a guided tour of Amber Fort, en route photo stop at Hawa Mahal (Wind Palace); Drive by Jeep from the foot of the hill up to the gates of the fortress. The red sandstone and white Marble palace have some very interesting apartments, Diwan-I-Am, Ganesh Pol, Sheesh Mahal, Sukh Niwas, Jai Mandir, Man Singh Palace and Shila Devi Temple. Next visit Jantar Mantar; one of the famed observatories built by Sawai Jai Sing, is a complex of astronomical instruments, chiseled out of stone, which provides fairly accurate information to this day. The afternoon is at leisure for an overnight stay in Jaipur. (B)
Day 05: Jaipur - Fatehpur Sikri – Agra (Driving Time: Approx. 5 hours)
As the tour progresses, today we travel to Agra en-route visit Fatehpur Sikri, also known as the abandoned city of Mughals, built by Emperor Akbar in 1569. The city was intended to embody the noble ideas and the humanitarian bent of this dynamic Emperor. He had planned this city as his capital but a shortage of water compelled him to abandon the city. This deserted city with many of the old structures intact is one of the finest examples of Mughal architectural splendour at its height. The prolific and versatile Indo-Muslim composite style is a unique fusion of the composite cultures of indigenous and foreign origins. The entire city of Fatehpur Sikri has been listed among the UNESCO World Heritage sites. Enjoy guided sightseeing tour and the interesting birth story of this beautiful city. Continue to drive to Agra, stay overnight in Agra. (B)
Day 06: Agra - Delhi Departure (Driving Time: Approx. 4 hours)
Pay an early morning visit to the immortal Taj Mahal, the inimitable poem in white marble is the first expression of love of an Emperor Shah Jahan for his beloved queen Mumtaz Mahal. Its stunning architectural beauty is beyond any adequate description. The Taj rises on a high red sandstone base topped by a huge white marble terrace on which rests the famous dome flanked by four tapering minarets. Within the dome lies the jewel-inlaid cenotaph of the queen. Standing in the centre of a luxurious Persian garden, it is an architectural jewel of its time, with its unparalleled glory and exquisiteness surpassing beyond all human imaginations. Also, visit Agra Fort; the imposing structure on the banks of the river Yamuna is full with priceless examples of craftsmanship in the Mughal period. It blends the Hindu and central Asian architectural styles very beautifully. Built by Emperor Akbar the maze of courtyards, mosques and private chambers of the fort, echo the story of the Mughal Empire. Travel back to Delhi airport to board your onward flight. Day 07: Delhi – Yoga & Ayurveda Resort (flight + drive)
Morning transfer to the airport for flight to Trivandrum/Cochin, arrive at Trivandrum/Cochin airport and transfer to wellness resort. Located at the pristine beach amidst undisturbed nature, it is a perfect hub to experience Ayurvedic treatments and rejuvenate one’s body, mind and soul. Arrive and check in at the hotel. Stay Five nights at the hotel. (B)
Day 08 – 11: Yoga & Ayurveda Resort
