Have you ever wondered how the wine in your glass was made and got its taste?? You are just going to explore the origin, making and then tasting of the wine. Morning you will be driven to Nashik – one of the holiest city in India, where Kumbh Mela is organized every 12 years. You will discover the historical site of Jainism by visiting Pandav Leni Caves. Dating back to 01st and 02nd century, These Jain Caves are cut from Single Solid Rock and served as the accommodation for Jain Bhikshus (ascetics) and have the beautiful sculpture of Jain Thirthankaras and Lord Buddha. You will not be able to stop yourself from wondering about the sheer labour which would have gone into building these expansive caves by cutting the hard rock without the use of any machinery. You will also be amazed to see the excellent water management system here.
You will continue to drive to reach SULA Vineyards – the origin of the famed Sula Wines. Arrive and check in at Beyond – India’s First vineyard resort. The afternoon will be at leisure to explore the resort or just relax. Stay will be at Vineyards. (D)
Day 02: Nashik – Wine Tour (understanding wines)
Today you will start on the journey of exploring the making of wines. You will first see the vineyards where the grapes of different varieties are grown which go into the making of the wines of different aroma and tastes. While you are mesmerized by the sight of beautiful green valleys of the vineyards where grapes in neatly lined rows are grown, the local guide will uncover the mystery of the journey of wine from grapes to the bottle. Visit the winery where the grapes are crushed, processed and converted into the fine tasting wines. You will then proceed to The Tasting Room, India’s first atop the vineyard providing a perfect ambience to appreciate and know more about wines. Wine appreciation/evaluation is done by understanding a wine through its colour, aroma, flavour, texture and body. The Wine tasting session will help you broaden your horizons on wine by demonstrating how to differentiate and characterize a wine. It will also help you know how to pair food and wine, how to serve wines or how to know which wine is perfect for gifting.
You also get a chance to buy some of the memorabilia including tee shirts, stemware, ice buckets and also the best of Sula Wines.
Stay will be at Vineyards. (B)
