Detailed Itinerary
Day 01: Shimla
Start your journey with the assisted transfer to the railway station to board the train to Kalka. Arrive, Kalka, where you will be assisted to change the trains and board Himalayan Queen Train. This train is registered in The Guinness Book as the greatest narrow gauge engineering achievement in India. The train passes through the breathtaking landscapes of the majestic Himalayas, 103 tunnels, 969 bridges, 919 curves and more than 20 railway stations in its entire journey. Enjoy the splendid views of snow-clad ranges of the Himalayas, covered with thickly populated forests of pine and oak. On arrival met by THO tour executive and transfer to the hotel for overnight stay. Stay overnight at the hotel in Shimla. (D)
Day 02: Shimla
Dwelling on a panoramic location, the hilly town is surrounded by green pastures and snow-capped peaks, accompanied by structures made during the colonial era, creating an incomparable aura. The magnificent old sites and structures hold the reminiscences of the pre-independence erawhen India was ruled by the British. Enjoy leisurely breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, explore the rich heritage of Shimla, once the summer capital of British India. You will explore the Ridge, situated along the Mall road, is the hub of all cultural activities of Shimla. While walking through the mall road, visit Scandal Point, a point where Mall road joins Ridge road, is named after the incidence where emperor of Patiala, smitten by the daughter of Viceroy of India, kidnapped her from this point. Visit the Indian Institute of Advance study, built in 1884-1888, Viceregal Lodge. Walk uphill to have the scenic view of the valley of Shimla from the top of Jakhoo Hill and Hanuman Temple at the top, the highest point in Shimla. Visit Lakkar Bazaar for shopping of artefacts made from wood. Return to the hotel in the evening. Stay overnight at the hotel. (B)
Day 03: Shimla – Kufri – Naldehra – Shimla
Your tryst with nature continues. Located just 13 km from Shimla and the highest point in surrounding areas, Kufri is a trekker delight. The morning after breakfast, take an excursion to Kufri. Visit the Himalayan Wild Life Zoo which hosts rare Antelopes, Felines and Birds including Himalayan Monal, the state bird of Himachal Pradesh. Trekkers can enjoy trekking to Mahasu Peak, walking through the picturesque apple orchards. For the Golf enthusiasts, Naldehraholds a special place as it is the home to the oldest Golf course in India. This nine hole par 68 course is considered one of the most challenging courses in India. Lord Curzon, Governor General and Viceroy of India (1899-1905) had this course built at the turn of the 19th Century. Return to the hotel in Shimla in the evening. Stay overnight at the hotel. (B, D)
Day 04: Shimla
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast drives back to Delhi airport for onwards flight. (B).
