Day 01: Arrive Delhi (Flight: TBA)
Arrive at Delhi International Airport. Please clear immigration and visa formalities collect your baggage and proceed to the arrival lounge through the green channel if you do not have goods to be declared to customs. TOTAL HOLIDAY OPTIONS executive will wait at the arrival with a placard in your name to greet you. Thereafter you will be assisted with a transfer and check in at the hotel. Stay for one night in Delhi. (No Meals)
Day 02: Delhi – Haridwar (Train 12017 – ETD 06:45 Hrs // ETA 11:30 Hrs)
Morning in time assisted transfer to Delhi railway station to board your train DDN Shatabdi to Haridwar. Reach Haridwar and assisted transfer to your hotel. Afternoon visit to the various temples by the Ghats, later take a walk in the narrow street of Haridwar market to visit the colorful shops. Conclude your day witnessing the evening prayer ceremony at Ghats of Har-Ki-Pauri, literally meaning the ‘footstep of God’, which is a holy bank on the river Ganga. The place is teeming with people wanting to take a dip in the holy waters. At sundown, witness the sensory spectacle when the Ganga Aarti is performed, with bells ringing and flaming torches everywhere. Return back to hotel for overnight stay in Haridwar. (B)
Day 03: Excursion to Rishikesh – Delhi (Train: 12018 – ETD 18:12 Hrs // ETS 22:50 Hrs)
The morning after early breakfast enjoy an excursion to Rishikesh and visit Laxman Jhula, a 450 ft. long hanging bridge on the river Ganga which was built in 1939. According to myths and legends Laksman, brother of Lord Rama crossed Ganga River on a jute rope from this point. The 13-storey temple is located near Lakshman Jhula where the idols of several Gods and Goddesses are kept & Ram Jhula which connects Swargashram with Shivananda Ashram. Walk through the several ashrams are located near Ram Jhula. Ram Jhula is bigger than Laxman Jhula and even more picturesque. Later in time transfer to Haridwar train station to board your train to Delhi. Arrive Delhi and transfer to your pre-booked hotel. (B)
Day 04: Delhi – Jaipur (Approx. 5 hrs drive)
Morning enjoy breakfast at a leisurely pace. Later checkout and travel to Jaipur, the first planned city of India, is a treasure-trove of culture, art and history, famous for its colour, life style and Rajasthani cuisine. It is a city exuding royal heritage and extravagant richness. The historic city also has many temples and shrines. On your arrival at Jaipur, check-into the hotel. Rest of the evening explore world famous jewellery bazaar which offers a variety that ranges from chunky tribal Jewellery to enamelled gold to modern diamond jewellery. In Rajasthan, men and women can be seen sporting necklaces, armlets, anklets, earrings and rings. Silver is more commonly worn by the rural women and is certainly more affordable for a shopper. Jaipur is well known for its gold and silver enamelling. Colourful bangles and set with semiprecious stones make an inexpensive buy. Stay for two nights in Jaipur. (B)
Day 05: Jaipur
Morning after breakfast you will proceed for guided visit of Amber Fort, the gaily decorated elephant ride, A beautiful complex of Palaces, halls, pavilions, garden and temples built by Raja Mansingh, Raja Jaisingh and Sawai Jaisingh over a period of about two centuries, it still stands in its magnificent state. The red sandstone and white Marble palace has some very interesting apartments- Diwan-I-Am, Ganesh Pol, Sheesh Mahal, Sukh Niwas, Jai Mandir, Man Singh Palace and Shila Devi Temple. Enroute photo stop at Hawa Mahal (Wind Palace). Continue your morning with Amber Fort excursion, the ancient capital of Rajasthan and the majestic palace complex to witness a unique system of air-conditioning of 17th century.
Later proceed for City Palace Museum; boasts to have some of the priceless handwritten Hindu scriptures of the ancient past, miniature delicate paintings, preserved painted ceilings and the elephant saddles (haudas), and is registered in the Guinness Book of Records to contain the biggest silver objects in the world. Conclude your day with visit to Jantar Mantar; one of the famed observatories built by Sawai Jai Singh is a complex of astronomical instruments, chiselled out of stone which provides accurate information to this day. Stay overnight at Jaipur. (B)
Day 06: Jaipur – Agra (Approx. 5 hrs drive)
Morning after breakfast travel to Agra, home to India's most famous landmark, the Taj Mahal. A poem of white marble, the Taj is described as the most extravagant monument ever built for love. En-route stop for guided sightseeing tour of Fatehpur Sikri, an outstanding example of Mughal architecture and a UNESCO World Heritage site. In 1571 Akbar constructed Fatehpur (Victory) Sikri city as the new capital of the Mughal Empire, replacing the perfectly viable Agra, just 37km away, which was left almost deserted. But after only fifteen years, Fatehpur itself was abandoned and left as an evocative ghost-town, because, they say, of a lack of water. The perfectly preserved red sandstone buildings consist of palaces, courtyards, a life-size chess board, tombs and mosques. Visit the Diwan-E-Khas (Private Audience Hall) with its remarkable central pillar. Also unmissable is Panch Mahal, the five storied structure, used as the viewing station for the harem. Assistance on arrival and check in at hotel and rest of the day free for relaxation and own activities. Stay for one night in Agra. (B)
Day 07: Agra – Delhi (Approx. 04 hours’ drive)
Early morning visit Taj Mahal (closed on Fridays) - the epitome of love, stands on the banks of the river Yamuna built in the 17th century by the Mughal Emperor Shahjahan. The white marble building changes its hue with the variations in the daylight. Made entirely of white marble and decorated with exquisite pietra dura (stone inlay) work, different types of precious and semi-precious stones were used in the intricate inlay work done on the interiors. This magnificent monument is built around a Charbagh or ’four gardens’ plan, split by watercourses— reflects the influence of Persian architectural style. Thereafter return to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast, enjoy a city tour of Agra visiting the Agra Fort; built by Emperor Akbar, its construction commenced in 1565 and was completed in 1571. It is built with red sandstone and is a mixture of the Islamic and Hindu styles of architecture. Later in the afternoon travel to Delhi and check into your pre-booked hotel. Stay overnight at Delhi. Day 08: Delhi Departure (Flight TBA)
After breakfast proceed for guided sightseeing tour at Old & New Delhi. Begin with Old Delhi with a drive pass the renowned 17th-century landmark Lal Qila; the Red Fort Palace to reach Jama Masjid. Visit Jama Masjid; the largest mosque in India built in red sandstone with extensive use of marble, with relics of the Prophet and Holy Quran enshrined here. Between the mosque and Chandni Chowk is a narrow shop-lined street along which you will be transported by cycle rickshaws on your most photogenic journey of the tour. Chandni Chowk was Shahjahanabad’s Main Street in 1650, facing the majestic Red Fort, which originally had a central canal running down its full length, and when moonlight reflected off the water it got the name Chandni Chowk or ‘Avenue of Moonlight’. The canals have long since gone and it is now a chaotically bustling area, typical of real India, containing a mix of stalls, shops, food outlets and temples. The locals go shopping here like nowhere else. Next visit The Gandhi Memorial; the resting place of the father of the nation.
In the afternoon drive past New Delhi, built in a typically British colonial style and designed by Lutyens with tree-lined avenues, colonial bungalows. The drive will include photo opportunities at some of the following attractions - the exterior the Parliament House, the War Memorial Arch (India Gate) and the Vice Regal Palace, now the official residence of the President of India in New Delhi.Conclude your day with visit to Qutub Minar; built at a height of 72.5m, and being one of the most important landmarks of Delhi, with calligraphically decorated interiors and also inscriptions of verses of the Holy Quran.
Later In time transfer to Delhi Airport to board your flight to onward destination. (B)
